Please check out the following sentence which can't without "lead to".

Soon, Michael’s talent leads to make him become the lead singer of the band.
 
Soon, Michael's talent leads to him becoming the lead singer of the band.

leads to = brings about, in the sense that he can be seen as the best, or better than the others.
 
Please check out the following sentence which can't without "lead to".

Soon, Michael’s talent leads to make him become the lead singer of the band.
You could also write, "Soon, Michael's talent leads him to become the lead singer of the band."
You seem to be saying that "lead to" is necessary, yet you use "leads to". There are possible variants with exactly "lead to". "Soon, Michael's talent would lead to him becoming the leader of the band."
