"I stayed in Turkey for 2 days and left for Bulgaria."

OR

"I stayed in Turkey for 2 days and left to Bulgaria."

Is it "left for:" or "left to"? I know that "left for" is correct. I heard both.

"I stayed in Turkey for two days and then left for Bulgaria"

I would say "left for". I can't recall having heard "left to". I might say, "I stayed in Turkey for 2 days and (then) left to go to Bulgaria."
