Is this sentence correct?

1) I like that song more because of its daring use of the synthesizer than for its melody.

It's grammatically correct but I'm not clear on what could be so "daring" about its use of a synthesiser. Is the sentence about a song from the late 1970s or early 1980s when synth use was quite novel?

I wonder why you've used because of here. Don't you mean for?

I think it should be for in both places.

I'd probably use 'for' in both places, but I have no objection to 'because of'.

Either that, or they were using the synthesizer is some unexpected new way. For example instead of using it to carry the melody, the synthesizer was used for percussive effect.

I don't really know much about them or how they're used, so my example may not be great. I'm blissfully unaware of all their capabilities or standard uses.

Or perhaps "because of" in both but no "for".

The original sounds very much like something I'd say (and have said) myself, so it sounds fine to me. However, I might also even omit the second part altogether and just say "than its melody". Either 'for' or 'because of' work equally well in the first position to my ear.
