Given that 'heist' is an informal word, the meaning is clear enough: 'carry out a robbery'.

I'd say "carry out a heist" or just "heist," as in "watch insane robbers try to carry out a heist on a truck" or "watch insane robbers try to heist a truck" would be correct, and thsi si not, although it is clear what is meant.
