[General] make/do an assessment

Hello. Could you tell me which one is correct: make or do an assessment ? With gratitude.:-D
 
We usually make an assessment.

"She made a careful assessment of the situation."

not a teacher nor a native speaker.

We make assessments in British English.
 
In AmE too.
 
I'd need to qualify those responses. If you're talking about an assignment, ie. an assessment for school, you 'do' those.
Assignments are sometimes called assessments in AusE, and you don't 'make' them.
If you are the one being assessed, you do an assessment.
