NEW SESSION:
The Kind Heart
In this new session in the Path of Insight series, world-renowned meditation teacher Joseph Goldstein shows us the transformative power of making friends with our mind—and of cultivating goodwill toward ourselves and others.

What does "making friends with our mind" mean? Does it mean, for example, that you use your mind to make Einstein your friend, then Einstein is your friend in your mind. Is it what the author means by saying "making friends with our mind"?

Almost certainly not, in my opinion. I think it probably means 'learning to become friends with your mind' - whatever that might mean.

You should listen to what Mr Goldstein has to say and then you'll know exactly what it means.

That would be time-consuming and probably not efficient since this meditation teacher most likely tells you to meditate to enlighten yourself.

A basic idea of Buddhism is that you can train your mind into 'right thinking'—one of the steps on the Eightfold Path. By doing this, you make your mind a 'friend', something that helps you along rather than something that stands in your way.
