Hi,

For example, if someone wants to get married but can't find the right one among the people he knows , he will probably write on a newspaper a match-making advertisement or announcement ? Which word is proper here?

Thank you!

In AmE, we would take out a personal ad or join a matching service. Most of us would go to a bar and hope to get lucky. ;-)

I agree. A personal ad. Not a "matchmaking" ad.

These days, you join Match.Com or JDate or Christian Mingle or eHarmony or...

No, they are not usually called "match-making ads" or "matchings ads".
