Have I made any mistakes?

"In the species where one gender invests incomparably more effort and resources in reproduction and bringing up offspring, it is expected that the specimen of that gender are more selective in choosing a mating partner. In early, pre civilization era humans, a female left on her own by her partner was much less likely to survive, as pregnancy made her significantly less independent. The evolutionary pressure for finding a reliable partner may be what the gender roles in our culture can be traced back to."
