What is the meaning of "mews" in:

"He is got a bird nested in a mews just around the corner (laughter)"

What does that mean?

Thanks a lot.

This sounds like a joke and a play on words:

He's got a bird (girl) nested (established, paying for her rent) in a mews (apartment) around the corner.

A mews is a street of small houses/flats that were originally stables

He is a man of dubious morals who pays the rent on accommodation for a young lady so that he may visit her there in order to receive her gratitude in a way that the moral tone of this forum prevents me from describing in lurid, passionate, breathless, erotic detail.

This must be a British term, I've never heard it. The only mews I know come from small cats.

Do go on, 5jj - I'm not sure I quite understand. . . .

Rover:oops:

She is a "kept woman," a term to describe when a man pays for her rent, food, and clothing in exchange for companionship or sexual favors.

So now you know, Rover.

Oh heavens. Do I have to put on my stern moderator hat?

Boys! Stop it!

(Just E-MAIL me the prurient details.)
