What does "so" refer to?

All real scientific inventions and breakthroughs come from this abstract realm. Aquarians, more so than most, are ideally suited to explore these abstract dimensions. (Your Personal Horoscope 2017 by Joseph Polansky)

suited to explore these dimensions

I see it as an error. Many people automatically add "so" after "more" whether or not it's needed.

It should be "Aquarians, more than most, are ideally suited ...".

"So" would be OK in something like "Aquarians are ideally suited to exploring these dimension. Pisceans, even more so."

"Arians are prone to making tysop. Pisceans are even more so."

"So" cannot stand alone in that context. The term "more so" is an idiom meaning to a greater degree.
