[Grammar] Most of the people Vs. Most people

Hi! A pleasant day to everyone! I am an ESL teacher and one of my students once asked me about the difference between Most of the people and Most people. I explained it to him, but I think I still need to confirm both usages because I think there was something missing. I hope you could help me with this. Thanks a lot!:?:
