"My guess is she's in there writing a check." - The sentence comes from a movie.

My question is, if I said "My guess is she's there writing a check." would it be correct?

It wouldn't have the same meaning. "In there" suggests that the speaker is indicating a building or a room. That wouldn't necessarily be suggested by "there".

She's there writing a check doesn't work for me. It needs a preposition, which could be in, over, back, up, down, and probably others I can't think of.

"She's at her desk. She's there writing a cheque."
"She's at the bank. She's there writing a cheque. She's at the post office, etc."
Sounds OK to me.

Note for those confused: AE check = BE cheque

In a different context: AE check = BE bill

In another context: AE bill = BE banknote

So, If I said "My guess is she's over there writing a check." or "My guess is she's back there writing a check." would it be correct and would it mean the same as "My guess is she's in there writing a check." ?

"Over there" suggests that the speaker can see her and might well be indicating wherever "over there" is. "Back there" suggests that she is perhaps in a back room, potentially out of sight. "In there" suggests she is in a different room (or a different building) and, again, potentially out of sight.

In spoken English, I'd hear the phrase as She's there, writing a check. Without the comma, it needs a preposition for me.

1. My guess is she's in there writing a check.
2. She's there, writing a check.

Is „writing” a Present Continuous in the both sentences?

but "My guess she's writing a check in there." is present continous tense?

"She's writing a check" is the present continuous.

Ask But in "My guess is she's writing a check in there", is "she's writing a check" in the present continuous?

Can I add "in there" (like #11) to the sentence? or Is it wrong?
