Hello. Would you please tell me what nobbles means in the context below?
Does "nobbles" mean same as lumps or bumps? Thank you.

I would take it to mean that but in knitting the word "bobbles" (with the same meaning) is more common so it might be a typo.
 
... especially as b and n are adjacent on the keyboard.
 
The book Flipper and Finnegan by Sophie Cunningham has apparently yet to be published. Perhaps it is not too late to fix a typo in the text.
