I heard the following on some podcast.
"We crave the need to be scared. I used to be one of those people until that Halloween three years ago. Now, growing up I searched for anything that would scare me.."
Please explain this use of "now" here. I wonder how one should use it and when. Obviosuly, it does not mean "at present" here. I often hear this kind of "now" in stories.
