Hi, I've found forum really helpful, thanks a lot for easy explanations! could you please explain the different meanings of the word "Odds". I know that it has plenty of various situations to use but I'm a bit messed up in it.

Hi, I've found forum really helpful, thanks a lot for easy explanations! could you please explain the different meanings of the word "Odds". I know that it has plenty of various situations to use but I'm a bit messed up in it.

"Odds and ends" - bits and pieces/little things! "I really need to tidy my room. There are odds and ends everywhere."

"What are the odds of that happening?" - odds = chances/probability. This comes from betting terms where the "odds" are the chances of a specific outome.

"Odds and evens" - odd and even numbers. So the odds (or odd numbers) are 1, 3, 5, 7...etc.
