Dear Teachers

In the following sentence, is it grammatically correct to use "officiated"? Is it grammatically correct if I use "performed by" instead of "officiated by"?

Peter is invited to a ceremony which will be officiated by Jane.

Please advise

Regards

Anthony the learner

'Officiated' doesn't sound right to me.

I'd say ceremonies are usually performed or conducted by a celebrant.

One "officiates at" something.

Yes — of course. That's why 'officiated by Jane' didn't sound right to me.
