Can one say:
1) I found a piece of paper on which was written your name and address.
instead of:
2) I found a piece of paper on which your name and address was written.

Can one say:
3) I entered a room in the corners of which had been placed four statues.
instead of:
4) I entered a room in the corners of which four statues had been placed.

I think '1' and '3' are correct, but somewhat odd, especially '1'. I think inversion sounds more natural with verbs like 'standing', 'sitting', etc.

All four are possible. 2 and 4 are somewhat more natural, but all are rather formal and sound a bit antiquated.

I know you're asking about a particular pattern, but more natural versions would be:

I found a piece of paper with your name and address on it.
I entered a room with a statue in each corner.

Most rooms are square with four corners, so you don't really need to specify there are four or that the room is square.

I wouldn't bother to mention that the statues were placed there. (How else would they get there?)
