Could you, please, explain to me the difference betwen "....x was predominant from a given period onward and x was predominant from a given period onwards"

Which one is correct? Are both correct?

Hi Buno,

I am not a teacher, but I reckon you have not looking in a dictionnary. What I can tell you to put you on a better way is the word 'Onwards' is not an adjective.

I appreciate your advice, though I do not think I have really got your point. In my example I need an adv and not an adj. The problems is that I looked up in my dictionary and I have found both the forms (with and without "S") for the adv. So I do not know if there is a rule in using one rather than the other.
