Is my answer correct to this task please?

My answer:
Lincoln was born in Kentucky. When he was eight years old, his father lost most of his land there. Lincoln's family moved to Indiana after his father's bankruptcy. The first winter that they spent in Indiana, they lived in a house with only three walls; the fourth side was open for a fire. Lincoln's mother died when he was nine years old. Soon after, his stepmother persuaded his father that Abraham should begin to go to school. However, the school closed not long after Lincoln's enrollment.
I tried to accentuate the changes I've made by emboldening them.
