[Grammar] pasts, presents and futures

There are always at least two pasts--the "objective" past and what a person remembers about it.

That's right. The former is commonly understood and shared by people at large, but as for the latter, I agree with jutfrank in saying that "everyone has their own private mental ideas of what we call 'the past', and you are free to understand things in the way that makes most sense to you". So so much for today. I'm a little far from being linguistic, as jutfrank says. Thank you Tarheel.
