I am patching Ram.

What is the meaning of above sentence?

It doesn't mean anything to me. Where did you find it?

And if you wrote it yourself, what do you want it to mean?

If you are adding someone to a group conversation or a conference call, you can say "I am patching Ram in".

Only if he has an injury that requires a bandage or a plaster and for some reason he can't get to a doctor. You could only use definition #2 with your word construction.

Anyway, let's wait to find out what the OP meant.

Thank you. This is exactly what I meant for. But when I see dictionary I don't find anything related to add someone in concall.

Is it necessary to add "in" at last?

Yes, you "patch someone in" to a conference call. It's a phrasal verb.

Thank you. This is exactly what I meant [STRIKE]for[/STRIKE]. But when I look at my dictionary I don't find anything related to add someone in concall.

Is it necessary to add "in" at the end?

It depends which dictionary you are consulting. Click here.

The OneLook site searches dozens of free online dictionaries which are regularly updated. Dictionaries in book form takes years to do this, involve you in needless expense, and are obsolete almost as soon as they appear on the shelves.

Telephone operators used to connect actual "patch cables" to connect one phone line to another.
