What is the meaning of 'perialism'?

Hi AH020387

Don't you mean "imperialism"?

"perialism" isn't recognised by the Free Dictionary, which checks both British and American dictionaries.

It sounds like a potential opposite of imperialism in the same way that imperfect is the opposite of perfect although, as noted above, it isn't.

Can you please provide some context or, even better, the exact sentence where you found this term?

My oh my! Following your remark, then "habit" is the opposite of "inhabit"? (and sooooo many other "false opposites we might find!) ;-)

Greetings,

I hope that you've misheard someone - 'imperialism' could easily be heard as 'perialism' by someone who was not familiar with the word.

If the speaker has deliberately shortened 'imperialism', this is an abbreviation that we simply do not use, so don't be tempted to copy it, or you will raise some eyebrows!

Another possibility is that you may have misheard 'pluralism'.
