Am I using "pick up the knowledge" correctly?

John: Why did you resign?
Bob: I want to go back to school and then apply for university.
John: That's great!
Bob: Before the school starts, I need to pick up the knowledge I've already forgotten.

Where did you get the idea that "pick up the knowledge" is an expression? It isn't.

Bob's confused. First, you decide you want to go back to school, and then you apply for university. Second, you don't pick up knowledge. You learn things.

How about "relearn the knowledge"?

Not exactly. However, If you have forgotten something you can relearn it. (I have never seen or used that phrase.)

I say no. That's no good at all. You can't learn or relearn knowledge. If you must use the word knowledge, the best collocating verb I can think of right now is reacquire.
