According to this paragraph:
He hid in some trees for an hour or two, then he went on south. Always south. To his home town.

1. Where did he conceal? In some trees.
2. Where did he continue on his journey? South.
3. Where did he head (for)? For his home town.

Thank you for your help. Isn't conceal a good synonym for hide in that context?

You could say "Where did he conceal himself." "Conceal" needs an object.
