Hi,

Question:
Any difference between the following 3 sentences?
Eg, difference between emphasis, meaning.
I was told that, however is an adverb in my sentence.

Sentence1:
However, the police did not believe him.
Sentence2:
The police, however, did not believe him.
Sentence:
The police did not believe him, however.

thanks

I was told that, however is an adverb in my sentence.

:up:

1 = 3
2≠3 --> 2≠1 :up:

Change in emphasis and change in meaning often go hand in hand.

The police, however, did not believe him. -- everyone else did

The police did not believe him, however. -- hard as he tried to convince them
