How is the sentence below correct or not?

"As a result of the pressure on lowering costs, the project was halted."

I'm not sure about "on"?

I'm not sure about "on"?

I think it would be better written as "As a result of pressure to cut costs..."

I agree with bhaisahab, but "to put pressure on" or "there is pressure on" etc do take the preposition "on".
