Is it that "she told a lie about me" is grammatically incorrect? I'm just surprised that the first sentence is acceptable, but the second isn't.
 
Instead of saying "She lied when she said I disrespected her" you could say "She lied about me."

Note how I changed the sentence.
 
The problem is not with "she lied about me," but rather with you somehow thinking this also conveys something about you disrespecting her.
