Can someone provide and authoritative IPA pronunciation for Malala Yousafzai.

It might be an idea to post this again in the Other Languages section. You need someone whose native language is Pashto in order to be absolutely certain of the correct pronunciation.

Thanks for your suggestion.

I will post in another forum shortly, if I strike out here. Since Malala Yousafzai is so common in English usage I was hoping someone here had an IPA (using only the IPA set for English) pronunciation for her name.

Greetings Leonardo,

Thanks for your input on this: However I am very sure that [məˈlaːlə jusəfˈzəj] is incorrect.

This is a big problem: assuming that pronunciations are correct because they are posted in Wikipedia or on the net. Unless you actually test recommended phonemes by listening to what is represented by them, you have no idea if it is correct. You can learn how to do this by following my instructions in the following post:

https://www.usingenglish.com/forum/threads/204883-GA-Transcription-Winnie-the-pooh-is-this-correct

I am pretty sure that the pronunciation you put forward, [məˈlaːlə jusəfˈzəj], should be corrected to /məˈlɑːlə(.)juː.səfˈzʌj/.
