I just can't grasp the idea of distinguishing the meaniong of the word "quite".

In this textbook it is written that "Quite means 'completely' with a number of adjectives.

Does it mean that I'd better just memorize these adjectives and stop bothering atoub it?

You'd also do well to focus on the very different ways that quite is pronounced when it means 'completely' as opposed to 'a little'. That's really the best place to start, I'd say. Another important place to look is the wider context, which will show you what the speaker means.

I would say there's a slight difference in stress, rather than pronunciation.
