RE: Correct Number of Spaces Following a Period (help?)
Hi folks,
I would be very grateful if someone might be able, please, to confirm what would be the correct the number of spaces between a period and the first letter of the next sentence. For example, when tying a document/essay/letter in 'Word', I was always taught that you should leave a total of 'two' spaces. This was also true whilst learning English at school (pre-computer era):
But, I have also seen - in many various instances - such gaps between sentences amounting to only one single space:

EDIT: Spaces now highlighted with '*' (thanks emsr).

Thanks very much indeed for any kind assistance offered.
