Hi:

What is the meaning of "reach the bottom" in the following passage? It is from the book The Asian Trade Revolution of the Seventeenth Century, by Niels Steensgaard, p. 44:

"I don't know what to say. Here silk is at a premium and there is very little of it, and at home there is plenty to be had at low prices. Here there are spices in plenty but the
prices are exhorbitant, even higher than I have written in my previous letters, and at home there are no spices and the prices have reached the bottom."

It is originally an excerpt of a letter from more than 4 centuries ago. Does it mean "the lowest level"?

Thanks very much.
