Can this word be used to designate a new object or phenomenon which appeared in people's life which did not exist before (like the Internet)? Or is there some other word?

The context may be as follows: New realias appeared in our social life an the end of the 20th century.

No, it's not natural in everyday English. It is used in education to refer to teaching aids, though.

I've only heard it used in teaching contexts.

So, what word should I use to describe new phenomena, like the Internet, which appear in our life? New (something) appear.

things, phenomena, media modes, complications, novelties, electronic marvels ...
How do you want to describe them?

I think "novelties" will do for my context (just any newly invented objects), thank you

That means I've not been taught enough! :-D

Spared possibly- people used to take things like tickets and receipts into class to use as a way of brightening things up in the bad old days before we had technology. ;-)
