Would someone correct my writing?

Reflection of Pond

There's a serene crystal clear pond. A white cloud was floating over, and casting her reflection on it. Then the cloud turned into rain, falling into the pond.

When the rain stops, the pond is eagerly looking up the skies again for the white cloud and searching down the becautiful reflection in its heart, yet neither is there. The pond sighs"Alas, whatever I see must just be my illusion."

Why did you use "her" to refer to a white cloud? Clouds are gender-free.

In my eyes of imagination when I was writing then, they were feminine.

Wouldn't the pond use the past tense for this cloud?
