Which of the following is correct-? Do not leave a gap before the punctuation mark.

1:-Somebody entered the room,-didn't he? Do leave a space between the punctuation mark and the next word.
2:-Somebody entered the room,-didn't they?

#2 would be correct with proper spacing.
