"This respectably lucrative and welcomingly steady employment offered by the huge fraternity market spurred the formation of hundreds of similar bands throughout Central New York, thereby raising the level of competition by leaps and bounds. Fortunately for us, the cream rose to the top. Our hard work and dedication placed us in the upper echelon of the local groups. We were in such demand that we would sometimes play at three houses on a Friday, three on a Saturday, and two more on a Sunday, earning sometimes as much as $10,000-plus for that weekend’s work".

"Rainbow in the dark", Ronnie James Dio.

Does "welcomingly" mean that the band was grateful for the opportunity? What does "respectably lucrative" in other words?

Yes, especially for it being "steady".

I presume the author is trying to say that the money the musicians made was decent.

They made a lot of money, and they were constantly in demand.
