Can I use riding on the for the following expression?

  1. riding on the bicycle
  2. riding on the plane
  3. riding on the car
  4. riding on the train
  5. riding on the coach
  6. riding on the tram
  7. riding on the boat
  8. riding on the bus
  9. riding on the motorbike
  10. riding on the truck
  11. riding on the taxi
  12. riding on the helicopter
  13. riding on the ship
  14. riding on the ferry
  15. riding on the sampan
  16. riding on the yacht
  17. riding on the surfboard

Can I use riding on the for the following expression?

"Riding on" is not suitable for #3 and #11.
#12 sounds strange to me, but it might be OK.
I would say "sailing on a ship/yacht".
I think the others are OK.
 
going by bike; cycling
going/travelling by plane; flying
going/travelling by car; driving
going/travelling by train, coach, tram, boat, bus
going by motorbike
going/ travelling by truck, taxi, helicopter, ship, ferry, sampan
going/travelling by yacht; sailing


These are all more natural to me than 'riding on'.
