I found photos of Craig, a high school senior, who __________ two weeks one summer to help little kids draw pictures at a camp.

Is "save up" or "give up" right for the blank according to the sentence? Thanks for help!

Use "gave up".

You can "save up" time if you're talking about your annual leave from your job.

"I've saved up all my leave so that I can take six weeks off at the end of the year."

We use "gave up" when we give up time for some activity.
