Dear all:

What do the following abbreviations stand for? They are from a dairy of a journey in Persia in 1873.

"Bassidore , (Sd.) Abdur Rahim Hakeem, L.M., 13th October 1873
Sub-Asst. Surgeon in Charge,
Bassidore Station
Persian Gulf."

Note: Bassidor station refers to the Britain station in the Qeshm Island in the Persian Gulf.

I would guess that Sd. is an abbreviation for the Indian Army rank of subadar which is now normally abbreviated to Sub.

I have no idea about LM.

I think L.M. stands for Licentiate in Medicine, which is historical (no longer in use).
