That's pretty straightforward. The person who sold the cow got some magic beans for the cow. (The other party to the deal now has the cow.)

Well, this a metaphor. The trade in question isn't like that. I just wondered why the person used the words "cow" and "magic beans". I guess I found it.

That is true, of course. And I am pretty sure I was going to refer to that in my post. But the Wi-Fi went out. (They always blame the website when that happens.)
