Is this sentence correct grammatically?


Just their steps could be heard for a while.









Context:
Narrator: They (a man and a woman) were walking towards the bus station at night. Just their steps could be heard for a while.

Yes, it's grammatical.
 
I would prefer "Only their steps ..." but "Just" is OK too.
