I have seen that some grammar books separate example sentences from one another with semicolons, e.g.:
1) The dog ran away(,) too; 2) I don't smoke hookah(,) either; 3) The cat doesn't eat this food(,) either.
Whereas other grammar books separate example sentences using periods. The same examples would be written like this in those books:
1) The dog ran away(,) too. 2) I don't smoke hookah(,) either. 3) The cat doesn't eat this food(,) either.
Now I am wondering which style is better, and I am afraid that one of the two might even be grammatically incorrect. help me find it out, please.

It's not a question of grammar. It depends on how it looks on the page, so it's an editorial decision. Normally, the sentences would be separated by line breaks.
