In my opinion that should read "alleged incompetence." Chesa Boudin is an elected official. Under California law, voters would not even have to wait until the next election to get rid of him if they wished to do so. They could recall him at any time.

Only governments, media, and other official spokespeople for organizations that can be sued for libel have to make the "alleged" disclaimer. This seems to be just a person expressing an opinion on Twitter.

Here's a problem: If "alleged" were inserted, then the opinion expressed by Sam Harris (American neuroscientist, the author of The End of Faith) would be opposite. See what Harris retweeted (retweeting means he agreed with Jason):

In the retweet, Harris sees Chesa as incompetent; if "alleged" were inserted, then it means Harris sees Chesa as competent.
