2. Did you ever go to Paris before you moved there?
3. She had never seen an opera before last night.
4. She never saw an opera before last night.

i would almost certainly use only #1, but I wouldn't say that #2 was incorrect,

I thought "...never...before" is usually used with the perfect tense.
