In this sentence, I understand that the verb 'ran' is being modified by the adverb 'fast'. Very simple. However, surprisingly I came across a website where they say, "In this the clause containing the adverb fast adds more information about how the subject ‘she’ has performed the action of running" and they say that the adverb 'fast' is subject complement here. How in the world does 'fast' provide more information about 'She' and become its complement? I am totally confused. Please help.

I'm no expert, but it sure looks like an adverb to me.

Could you give us a link? The site seems to be a bit unclear about what is what- we could take a look to see how trustworthy the site is. It's an adverb to me too. If you said She is fast, I would agree that fast is a subject complement describing the subject, but she ran fast tells us about the way she ran.

I agree that you should ignore that page (and probably the whole site). Here are two errors from the start of that page ...

"... the object is what is affected to the action of the subject ..."
"Since both these are included in ..."

They should read "... the object is what is affected by the action of the subject ..."
"Since both of these are included in ..."

How in the world does 'fast' provide more information about 'She' and become its complement?
