"Having seen AC/DC at yet another Chequers show in February, and encouraged by the full-on attentions of Bon, who ‘did his balls over her’, as his friend and former roadie John Darcy put it, Judy had hitchhiked to Melbourne to be with the singer. She shacked up with her older sister, Christine, then working in one of the many massage parlours that lined Fitzroy Street in St Kilda, turning tricks to support her heroin habit, "shooting smack to help blot out the tricks" – the usual dead-end trip".
Mick Wall, "Hell Ain't A Bad Place To Be".

Pleas explain what the bolded means in other words.

There is a lot of slang in that passage.

Shooting smack = injecting heroin
Turning tricks = selling sex
What does "block out the tricks"? To forget?

Yes, to help repress the memories via recreational drug use.
Which is weird because she turns tricks to support her drug habit.
