Should we fire him, his wife will be angry / If we are to fire him , his wife will be angry.
In both of my examples the parts in bold mean the same, right? What's the difference? When to use one or the other?

If we fire him, his wife will be angry.

The "Should we fire him ...." sentence is, in my humble opinion, much less likely, and the other one is not likely at all.

What are we trying to learn here?
