This is about bed-making, and what is "snapping the spread"? You hit the wrinkled part of the sheet?

ex)....I would rather spend those precious minutes checking my email or feeding the cat than tucking in corners or snapping the spread...

The spread means the bedspread - the top cover which goes over the rest of the bedding.

Snapping it is that wrist action you do to open it out from its scrunched up or folded over state.

You can see some examples here.

It seems like both of your hands hold the bedspread and by snap, pull it out to two opposite directions, left hand to left, right hand to right, to make it flat. Right?
