I went to bed because i was tired
 
hi guys....most of us know that because is the correct answer.. How about if i change it to :

I went to bed AS i was tired...

Is the sentence still correct??

Yes, but change i was tired to I was tired. ;-)

it's "because' . for sure
 
It should be 'because'since it is followed by the reason for going to bed . To use 'so' we have to say I was tired fist.

I would say "because".
I think can you say ''because'', for gives a reason for going to bed.
 
I would vote because here. But I won’t forget an archaic use of the word "so" to mean "if" or "on the condition that" as a conjunction.

I think it is because, since it indicates the reason why something happens.

He went to bed because he was tired/sleepy. It follows the pattern "He did X because of Y".
 
Yes, you are correct.
I'm pretty sure that Tarheel already knows he's correct - he's a native English speaker, after all. He was helping the learners understand the correct answer rather than trying to answer the question himself.
