So I thought, why not have/take a look around?

I'm writing a script. A man comes home in the middle of the night to find a woman looking around inside his house. The woman tries to explain herself -

I was freezing and there were no other houses in sight, so I broke into the conservatory. I was just going to stay there until it started getting light, but then I found that the door to the house wasn't locked. I was a bit curious, so I thought, why not have/take a look around?

Is the bold-faced part natural? Would either one of 'have' and 'take' be natural here?

Yes, both work equally well. I'd use 'take', but that's purely a personal choice. There's nothing wrong with 'have'.

Would it be natural to add 'a little' to the sentence?

"...so I thought, why not take a little look around?"

Also, would you find the above more natural than "...so I thought, why not look around a little?"

Would it be natural to add 'a little' to the sentence? Yes.

Also, would you find the above more natural than "...so I thought, why not look around a little?" No, not more natural. They're equally natural.

They're equally natural but in different English variants. BrE would, as a rule, use "have a look round/around".
