Would you say, 'On the weekend, I did soft things' to mean that you did informal and entertaining things?
 
I would not.

No. And I've never heard it.
 
It doesn't work in BrE either.
 
You could say you had a "laid back" weekend.
 
Or that you "took it easy."
 
Or you had "a chilled weekend".
